Permanent standard time makes sense for closer to the equator Hawaii, but less so for us at the 50th parallel where I live. Here in the the rainy Northwest, sunlight is precious. Consequently, I rise before first light year around. This would mean getting up at about 3 am in June on standard time. I don’t really have a problem with that, except that there would still be significant ambient noise from the mostly wide awake world around my bed time. On standard time most people living at this latitude would waste the best summer light of the day by snoozing away.
